FRONTIER OFFROAD

Before you ride

Expedition FAQs

What riding experience do I need?

Both expeditions require intermediate or higher off-road riding experience. They are not beginner riding courses.

How long are the expeditions?

Both expeditions last ten days, including eight riding days. The Gobi Crossing covers approximately 1,400 km and The Khangai Lakes approximately 1,600 km.

Which expedition should I choose?

The Gobi Crossing is our signature expedition and recommended introduction to Mongolia, combining desert terrain, rocky trails and open steppe. The Khangai Lakes follows mountain trails through green valleys and highland lake country.

Where do we stay?

Hotel stays in Ulaanbaatar are on the first and ninth nights, with single occupancy included. Other nights are in Nomadic Mongolian ger camps. Single occupancy in gers carries a €350 total supplement.

Are meals and transfers included?

Meals and beverages are included throughout the expedition, together with airport transfers.

How do I prepare?

We host a pre-departure call for each expedition to answer questions and walk through preparation, equipment and what to expect. A separate packing list provides equipment guidance.

Do I need my own insurance?

All riders must have their own travel and medical insurance covering off-road motorcycle riding in Mongolia, including emergency evacuation and repatriation.

Can you plan a private expedition?

Yes. Private expeditions can be tailored around your group’s riding preferences, regions, cultural experiences, accommodation and available time. We recommend planning nine to twelve months ahead.

What about motorcycle damage protection?

Motorcycle damage responsibility and any optional protection or security deposit are governed by the Frontier terms ↗. Applicable costs and conditions are disclosed before booking.
